Embraced
This cover and inlay was designed for Evelin Tóth (vocals) and Erikk McKenzie (electronics) with the contribution of Péter Szalay—Hungary’s most talented tabla percussionist—, Szabolcs Szőke and Jan Barta for their 2010 album “Ölelésben” (Embraced). The collaboration of one of Hungary’s most talented jazz singers using her throat as a standalone instrument and Norway’s young experimental electronic composer resulted in a cold, alienated but surprisingly consequent world of the human voice and industrial sounds. The photos represented on the cover were taken by Zsolt Hamarits (except the inner sleeve picture of McKenzie shot by József Bozsits). The ChaletComprimé typeface—created by Paul van der Laan for a companion family of House Industries’ Chalet—used throughout the whole design is the one I used in several other projects too these years.
