A Thousand Forests

Weeks before the inlay design, the cover graphics (not included here) for the first album “Ezer Erdő” (A Thousand Forests)—released in 2010—of the Hungarian indie band “Magashegyi Underground” has already been created by the excellent 3D artist and illustrator Tamás Kósa (Kilfish). My task was the typographic layout of its booklet featuring the lyrics, credits and sleeve notes. Inspired by the fairytale-thematics of the song titles, I have chosen a corresponding, partly playful, partly historic display typeface, the Parrish, released by the P22 type foundry, which is famous for reconstructing long forgotten type families. The flowtext, in contrast, was set by a suitable roman set: the Amor Serif by František Štorm maintains the legibility with its unique, italic forms.
