3 Minutes with István Örkény

Experimental booklet design. Printed media. Paper, 120 mm × 120 mm. Created as a school work for Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design on desktop PC in 2010.

This booklet of 8 pages was an exam work for Typography Classes of the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. The final task “3 perc Örkény Istvánnal” (3 Minutes with István Örkény) has been defined as a small book of three spreads (plus covers) as a typographic coverage of three short stories from the novel series “Egyperces novellák” (One-minute Short Stories) of Hungarian writer István Örkény famous for his grotesque sight on the world. The stories were chosen from a determined set. The ChaletComprimé typeface—created by Paul van der Laan for a companion family of House Industries’ Chalet—used throughout the whole design is the one I used in several other projects too these years.
